About
Nothing Funnier Than 7000+ Bats refers to a viral iFunny post in which a person imagines building a large-capacity bat roost and causing their homeowner's association trouble with it. The post received viral spread on social media in early April 2021 and has been referenced in memes and as a copypasta.
Origin
On March 22nd, 2021, iFunny[1] user LifeIsBeautiful posted a photograph of a large bat roost accompanied by a caption. In the caption, LifeIsBeautiful flirted with an idea of installing a 7,000+ capacity bat roost on their property, which would likely result in their homeowner association lodging complaints but being unable to remove it due to bats being protected under the Endangered Species Act. The post was featured on the app and received over 74,000 smiles in three weeks (shown below).
Nothing funnier than the thought of installing a 7,000+ compacity bat roost causing thousands of bats to come into your neighborhood causing the HOA to complain only for them being unable to remove it because bats are a federally protected animal – causing the HOA to complain only for them being unable to remove it because bats are a federally protected animal.
Later on March 22nd, LifeIsBeautiful,[2] apparently displeased that his posts had been featured on the app, made a post reacting to the feature (shown below, left). On March 23rd, LifeIsBeautiful[3] made a follow-up post comparing sizes of various bat roosts (shown below, center), that was also featured and revived over 20,500 smiles.
Spread
On March 22nd, Twitter[4] user @dandanorly reposted LifeIsBeautiful's post, with the tweet gaining over 500 retweets and 3,400 likes. On March 23rd, TikTok[5] user snowflakeheaven posted a screenshot of the post, with the video gaining over 56,500 views and 5,600 likes.
In late March 2021, the post received viral spread online with multiple reposts on Facebook, Instagram and other platforms. For example, on March 24th, Facebook[6] page Common Sense Underground reposted the image, with the post accumulating over 19,000 reactions and 8,600 shares in three weeks. A March 26th, 2021, Imgur[7] repost received over 119,000 views in the same period. On April 1st, 2021, Tumblr[8] user putris-et-mulier reposted the image, with the post accumulating over 28,500 likes and reblogs in two weeks.
