Not You, Seamus refers to an exploitable video clip and audio taken from an episode of Family Guy. The meme is used similarly to the Not You meme, in which a member of the group, represented by Seamus' wooden arm, is excluded by other members in that group.

Origin

The clip comes from Family Guy's eighth episode of season ten, titled Cool Hand Pater, which first aired on December 4th, 2011.^[1] In the scene, Peter Griffin, Glenn Quagmire, Cleveland Brown, and Joe Swanson become frustrated with their lives and agree to all go on a road trip together, then they stack their hands on top of each other. Sea captain character Seamus Levine also puts his peg hand onto the pile, to which Peter responds by brushing it away with his hand and saying "No, no no, not you, Seamus." The clip (shown below) was posted to YouTube by 3WheelSteve on December 13th, 2011, where it received over 65,000 views in over eleven years.

On March 8th, 2022, TikTok user x.harleyy.quinn^[2] posted the relevant clip to the app, gaining over 1,000 likes in over a year and getting the audio on the platform (shown below).

Spread

The format first grew popular on YouTube, particularly YouTube Shorts. On January 13th, 2022, YouTuber Atlmiam posted an object labeling parody of the scene using social media websites, gaining over 39,000 views (shown below, left). On May 25th, 2023, the channel Maxwell Gamer used the audio to show how P.E. was his least favorite subject in school, gaining over 300,000 views in three months (shown below, left).

Parodies of the scene began appearing on TikTok in the year after the audio's post. On February 14th, 2023, user @gigzz_01 posted a parody with toy dinosaurs, gaining over 23,000 likes in six months (shown below, left). On July 3rd, TikToker @cheezey_bread_ posted a parody about fan artists drawing characters from Harry Potter, gaining over 18,000 likes in one month (shown below, right).
