My Zombie Apocalypse Team is a multi-panel exploitable image used as the roster template for an eight-member survival team in the hypothetical event of a zombie apocalypse. On discussion forums, many have come up with customized "zombie apocalypse teams" featuring their favorite fictional characters from popular films, TV shows and comic books.

Origin

On August 2nd, 2010, DeviantArtist^[3] littleliesel uploaded an image showcasing a zombie apocalypse team made up of eight different characters from animated television shows and video games (shown below). The post cited a deleted Tumblr^[4] post as the origin of the template image.

Spread

On January 26th, 2011, Black Butler Forums^[6] member Ishkie invited other forum users to create their own zombie apocalypse teams. On May 3rd, 2012, Redditor Kukko18 submitted a post titled "Ultimate Zombie Team" to the /r/funny^[7] subreddit, featuring a zombie apocalypse team image containing action film stars, television show protagonists, Justin Bieber, Technoviking, Kyle Myers of FPS Russia and Jesus (shown below). Prior to being archived, the post received more than 3,000 up votes and 300 comments.

On May 23rd, an anonymous Canvas^[5] user posted the zombie apocalypse team template image, which received over eight pages of replies over the course of the next 17 months. On March 18th, 2013, Anime Vice Forums^[1] member Haofan123 submitted the template to the "Off-Topic" board, accompanied by a list of rules for creating an apocalypse team. On May 27th, Redditor WantingHuskies submitted a zombie apocalypse team image to the /r/PandR^[2] subreddit, featuring the character Ron Swanson from the comedy television series Parks and Recreation (shown below). In the next five months, the post received more than 1,300 up votes and 300 comments.
