About

Mr. Incredible Finds Out The Truth, also referred to as Mr. Incredible Finds Out, Mr. Incredible Learns or Mr. Incredible Discovers, is an exploitable video meme taken from a scene in the 2004 Pixar film The Incredibles. The format is used to showcase a large number of people, things or concepts that have been abandoned, removed or changed for the same reason, overlaid on the original scene as "terminated" by replacing the heroes that Omnibot killed in the movie.

Origin

The original scene from The Incredibles features Mr. Incredible discovering the evil plan of the film's villain, Syndrome, which has been codenamed "Project Kronos." Mr. Incredible learns that Syndrome has killed almost all the other superheroes in existence, using iterated versions of his killer robot, the Omnidroid (shown below). Digging deeper, he learns that Syndrome plans to use the final version of the Omnidroid to destroy a city.

The earliest recorded example of the scene being used as a meme was uploaded on June 24th, 2018, by YouTuber[1] Josh Anthony. The video was titled "Pewdiepie kills every meme" (seen below). In the video, "Project Kronos" is retitled "Project Edgar" (Edgar is PewDiePie's dog), with the superheroes replaced by memes that have been featured on PewDiePie's Meme Review series, implying that exposure from PewDiePie's fanbase has rendered those memes "uncool."

Anthony's video gained over 3.3 million views as of August 2021. The video was uploaded the same month that Incredibles 2 premiered in theaters and became the highest-grossing animated film of all time (as of 2021), generating additional interest in the meme.

Spread

Following Anthony's video, the format spread and was used by additional creators in the following months and years. On July 2nd, YouTuber[2] @awesomealex500 uploaded a version of the meme involving characters who died in Avengers: Infinity War. The video gained over 130,000 views as of August 2021 (shown below).

On February 5th, 2019, Twitter[3] user @bj_swanny tweeted a version of the meme where Mr. Incredible is wearing Lonzo Ball's L.A. Lakers jersey. The video replaced the superheroes with NBA players, showing how Lonzo's new teammate LeBron James planned to create a superteam by attracting other star players to the Lakers. The tweet received more than 50,000 retweets and 150,000 likes in roughly two and a half years.

On March 1st, 2021, YouTuber[4] gr33nguy uploaded a version of the video with the superheroes replaced by corporate logos that had been simplified. The video gained more than 4 million views over four months.
