Minion AI Gore Videos and Minion AI Shock Videos refer to a series of TikTok videos in which gore and other types of NSFW shock videos are edited with AI programs like Runway to replace the people involved with Minions The trend was popularized in mid-December 2024, resulting in backlash from some, who encouraged TikTok moderators to remove the videos from the platform.
Origin
TikTokers began uploading videos using the AI program Runway to replace people in certain videos with Minions in December 2024. For example, on December 7th, 2024, TikToker[1] @spermamantitan posted a video doing this that gained over 50,000 views in 10 days. The trend seems to have started in Russia.

It is unclear who posted the first example of a shock video using the AI Minion technique. One of the earliest notable examples was posted by TikToker[2] @belyash_o_0_ on December 14th, 2024, in which they posted an edit of the Ronnie McNutt suicide video that adds Minions to the scene, garnering over 250,000 views in three days.

The trend became increasingly popularized over the following days, with many of the most viral examples originating from Russian TikTok accounts. For example, on December 16th, 2024, TikToker[3] @ded_.purded_ posted a version of the trend in which a video of someone purportedly taking feces out of a public toilet and licking it has been edited over, garnering over 400,000 views in a day.

On the same day, TikToker[4] @skkkksww posted an edit of a video in which someone is crushed by an elevator, replacing all the people in the video with Minions, garnering over 390,000 views in a day.

The videos inspired backlash from some on TikTok. For example, also on December 16th, 2024, TikToker[5] @marinette.dpc.luvz posted a video expressing how traumatizing the videos are, garnering over 540,000 views in a day. TikToker[6] @noahglenncarter also posted a video on the trend, garnering over 1.2 million views in a day.
