Mein Scheiss Hund Gniesbert refers to a viral X, formerly Twitter, post consisting of a photograph of a shiba inu dog named Sea Urchin sitting inside of a dog hair drying that he claims is a gaming PC captioned, "Mein scheiss Hund Gniesbert ist schon wieder in meinen Gaming pc geklettert," German, which translates to "My shitty dog Gniesbert climbed into my gaming pc again." The post was made in August 2023 and went viral over the following months, inspiring reposts, redraws and memes referencing the post.
Origin
On August 12th, 2023, Instagram[10] user shiba_uni_20190107 posted an image and several videos of their dog Sea Urchin sitting inside of a dog hair drying device, garnering over 32,000 views in three months (shown below).
On August 13th, 2023, X[1][2] user @polyluxxx posted one of the photographs of the dog, writing in German, "Mein scheiss Hund Gniesbert ist schon wieder in meinen Gaming pc geklettert," which translates to "My shitty dog Gniesbert climbed into my gaming pc again," garnering over 58,000 likes before the account was suspended (shown below).
Spread
The post was screenshotted and gained viral spread. On August 14th, 2023, it was posted to /r/Bossfight[3] and /r/196,[4] garnering over 1,400 upvotes and 3,400 upvotes respectively in three months. On August 17th, Newgrounds[5] user infinitebrians posted artwork based on the meme, also posting it to Tumblr,[6] garnering over 190 views on the former and 6,100 notes on the latter in three months (shown below).
On September 3rd, Tumblr[7] user neproxrezi posted a drawing of a Gniesbert inspired mech, writing, "MY SHITTY DOG GNIESBERT CLIMBED INTO THE ARMORED CORE AGAIN," garnering over 1,300 notes in two months (shown below, left). On September 17th, u/Bedazzled_Noose posted the original meme to /r/196,[8] garnering over 700 upvotes in two months.
On November 13th, u/AnalKeyboard posted an image macro to /r/196[9] showing a shiba inu covered in snow captioned, "Mein scheiss hund Gniesbert hat das kokain gefundun," which translates to, "My shitty dog Gniesbert found the cocaine," garnering over 2,800 upvotes in a day (shown below, right).
