Me: Studies Anatomy, College Student Majoring in the Arts refers to a series of ironic memes that humorously compare anatomically correct art created by an art student against various images. Spawned by a viral tweet, the trend gained popularity on social media in May 2021.

Origin

On May 18th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @ThirdBeatArt tweeted a two-panel We Live in a Society meme comparing two sketch drawings (shown below), with the anatomically correct drawing shown to have accumulated three retweets and 15 likes and a drawing ignoring anatomy in favor of visual style shown to have gained over 12,500 retweets and 404,000 likes. The post received over 1,400 retweets, 3,800 quote retweets and 22,500 likes in two days.

On May 19th, 2021, @ThirdBeatArt made two follow-up tweets[2][3] in which he clarified that the post was intended to be satire (shown below).

Spread

Starting on May 19th, the post gained spread as a template for memes, with users replacing the image in the second panel with various images. Additionally, multiple users on Twitter drew ships of the characters in the meme.

On that day, Twitter[4] user @Sparzkidin3d made the earliest found viral reaction post that gained over 230 retweets and 2,200 likes (shown below, left). Later on the same day, Twitter[5] user @playcenterwd posted an Among Us meme that received over 330 retweets and 2,300 likes (shown below, center). Several hours later, user @UltimaShadowX posted a meme[6] using the character Rouge the Bat from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, garnering 6,140 retweets and 51,900 likes in the one day (shown below, right).
