Leon Kennedy's Tramp Stamp

About

Leon Kennedy Tramp Stamp is a mod for the 2005 video game Resident Evil 4 and its 2023 remake that imagines protagonist Leon Kennedy having a "tramp stamp" tattoo and wearing a thong with the strings pulled up above his hips. The virality of the mod and the spread of screenshots of Leon Kennedy with the tramp stamp inspired fan art and memes, forming a humorous fan canon in the early 2020s.

Origin

On December 9th, 2022, Tumblr^[1] user maykitz posted two screenshots of a texture pack for Resident Evil 4 that replaced Leon Kennedy's shirt with a crop top, added a "tramp stamp" tattoo onto his lower back and a thong partly sticking out from his jeans (shown below, left). The post gained over 13,000 likes and reblogs in one year.

On December 12th, maykitz posted^[2] more screenshots of the texture pack, referring to it as "leon slut kennedy textures," and shared an Imgur^[3] link for it. The Tumblr post gained over 2,100 likes and reblogs in a year (shown below, right).

Spread

In December 2021, the earliest fan art depictions of Leon Kennedy wearing a thong with the tramp stamp were posted on Tumblr. For example, on December 11th, 2022, Tumblr^[4] user catfoolery posted an artwork that gained over 6,200 likes and reblogs in two years (shown below, left). On December 15th, Tumblr^[5] user doctor-pepo posted a drawing that gained over 840 reblogs and 2,400 likes in the same period (shown below, right).

On May 8th, 2022, modder Gherrsch turned the texture pack into a mod for Resident Evil 4 (images shown below). The mod was downloaded from Nexus Mods^[6] over 1,700 times in one year.

On March 9th, 2023, a demo version of Resident Evil 4 Remake was released. On that day, Twitter^[7] user @UltimaShadowX posted a tweet that a mod adding the tramp stamp and thong to the game should be made. The tweet gained over 3,400 retweets and 23,900 likes in roughly a month.

On March 26th, 2023, following the release of the game, modder TrieuPham uploaded a mod that added the tramp stamp and thong to the game (images shown below, left and center). The mod accrued over 4,100 downloads on Nexus Mods^[8] in 10 days.

Later on March 26th, Twitter user @Paragas95Leon then tweeted a collage of promotional images for the mod that gained over 4,000 retweets and 21,300 likes in 10 days (shown below, right).

In late March 2023, multiple artworks of Leon Kennedy that included the tramp stamp and the thong went viral on Twitter.
