KK Slider Album Cover Redraws refers to a trend on TikTok and Twitter in which people redraw popular musical album covers featuring the Animal Crossing character KK Slider, as KK Slider is a musical artist in the game with several "albums" with covers of his own.

Origin

On April 11th, 2020, TikTok user annqell posted a video in which she redrew the Gorillaz album The Now Now with KK Slider, gaining over 7,500 likes (shown below).

Spread

The trend did not begin spreading widely until a week later, when on April 18th and 19th, Twitter users began posting their variations. On April 18th, Twitter user @piusxiii^[1] tweeted several metal album covers with KK, gaining over 93 retweets and 290 likes (shown below, left). The following day, user @wheezeroni^[2] redrew Tyler, the Creator's Wolf, gaining over 7,500 retweets and 29,000 likes (shown below, right).

The trend continued over the following several days, attracting media attention from publications including Polygon^[3] and Vice.^[4] Other popular examples include a tweet by @memedokies,^[5] who redrew Marina and the Diamonds' Froot and gained over 11,000 retweets and 40,000 likes, and a tweet by @litchiyuchi,^[6] who redrew Red Velvet's Perfect Velvet and gained over 6,500 retweets and 14,000 likes (shown below, right).
