Gedebog Pisang (Eng. Banana Stem) refers to an NSFW viral video of a guy getting caught using a banana stem as a sex object. Memes referencing the video began spreading in the 2020s.
Origin
On September 9th, 2020, Reddit[1] user hawi51 uploaded a video of someone secretly recording a man using a banana stem as a sex toy and getting caught to the /r/indonesia subreddit. The video received 109 upvotes in three years (shown below).
Spread
Starting in 2020s, the video grew popular with memes referencing it on Facebook. For example, on September 17th, 2022, Facebook[2] user Renaldii uploaded an edit referencing the video to the "Absurd Humor 6.0" group. The video received more than 1,500 reactions and 328 shares in one year (shown below, left). On May 7th, 2023, Facebook[3] user Luigi Pastera uploaded a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure edit to the "Is This A JoJo Reference" group. The video received more than 2,800 reactions and 1,200 shares in six months (shown below, right).
On June 1st, 2023, Facebook[4] user Unkl Mitball uploaded the PLAP PLAP PLAP GET PREGNANT copypasta in Indonesian with a photo of banana stems as a reference the video. The post received more than 1,700 reactions and 693 shares in five months (shown below, left). On November 9th, 2023, Facebook[5] user Prasetyo Adi uploaded an Emoji Kitchen edit, combining banana tree and hole emojis to the "pecinta meme komik trenggalek" group. The post received more than 1,800 reactions and 783 shares in two weeks (shown below, right).
