Fell For It Again Award refers to a reaction image of a Soyjak with a blue ribbon award, recaptioning the original Posted It Again Award meme to read, "Fell For It Again Award," as in, falling for bait or other lies. The meme was commonly used in quote tweets to mock people for being gullible. Exploitable signifiers were often added to the image, like one prominent iteration showing a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat on the Soyjak that was used to make fun of Donald Trump supporters.
Origin
On April 16th, 2023, a user added an image to SoyBooru,[1] showing a shocked Soyjak with a blue ribbon award pinned to his chest, reading in all caps, "FELL FOR IT AGAIN AWARD" (shown below). It's currently unknown where the original image was shared. A likely origin is Soyjak.party where many of the SoyBooru images originate. Twitter / X
Spread
The image started to spread online in memes going into late 2023. For instance, on November 9th, X[2] user @Marcus_cel shared an iteration in which the Soyjak keeps falling for a "knuckle sandwich" joke. The Soyjak's face is bruised in the image. Over one year, the tweet received over 1,100 likes (shown below).
On July 23rd, 2024, X[3] user @SparrowAdorer quote tweeted a post about a person celebrating the start of Kamala Harris' 2024 presidential campaign, inferring that the person was being naive. The quote tweet gained over 1,300 likes in five months (shown below).
MAGA Donald Trump Supporter
On November 22nd, 2024, X[4] user @ATFujoshi quote tweeted a news headline about President-elect Donald Trump
saying he would nominate a former George Soros money manager to lead the U.S. Treasury Department. The quote tweet attached a version of the Fell For It Again Award Soyjak with a MAGA red, gaining over 72,000 likes in a day.[5]
The tweet has since been deleted. However, on November 23rd, Redditor[5] CorleoneBaloney posted a screenshot of the tweet to /r/facepalm, gaining over 10,000 upvotes in a month (shown below).
The image was used in other viral posts in the following weeks. For instance, on December 8th, 2024, X[6] user @pelhamfall quote tweeted a similar Trump headline about the President-elect not being able to guarantee that Americans wouldn't pay more under tariffs, gaining over 245,000 likes in 10 days (shown below).
