The Indictment of Ron Jeremy refers to the arrest and indictment of former adult-film star Ron Jeremy. In June 2020, Jeremy was arrested for more than 30 alleged counts of sexual assault-related felonies. In August 2021, a larger indictment against Jeremy was revealed. Jeremy pleaded not guilty to all charges in June 2020 and affirmed that position in August 2021 when he appeared before a court in Los Angeles.
Origin
On June 23rd, 2020, former porn star Ron Jeremy was charged and arrested for eight counts of sexual assault-related felonies.[1] On the same day, Jeremy tweeted[2] about the accusations and said, "I am innocent of all charges. I can’t wait to prove my innocence in court! Thank you to everyone for all the support." A video from June 23rd, 2020, of Jeremy's original arrest was uploaded to Bloomberg's YouTube channel, receiving over 383,000 views in roughly one year (shown below). On June 26th, 2020, Jeremy pleaded not guilty before the court.
Over a year later, on August 25th, 2021, Jeremy was indicted for an updated 34 counts of sexual assault-related felonies.[3] Jeremy is to remain under arrest at the Twin Towers Correction Facility in Los Angeles with a bond of $6.6 million and will be returning to court on October 12th, 2021.[3]

On August 25th, 2021, the Los Angeles Times shared an article about the indictment via a tweet (shown below).[4] The tweet received roughly 4,000 likes and 2,000 retweets in less than 24 hours.
Breaking: Ron Jeremy has been indicted on more than 30 counts of sexual assault stemming from allegations made by more than 20 women that span the last quarter-century, prosecutors said.
Tweets and memes about Jeremy began to surface on Twitter going into the next day on August 26th, 2021. The most common form of memeing about Jeremy on Twitter followed the template of, "I'm telling my kids this was Ron Jeremy," paired with an image of something or someone unrelated to Jeremy. Many of these memes would relate Jeremy to Matt Gaetz regarding the similarities in their allegations — Gaetz's occurring back in March 2021.
One such example was tweeted by Twitter[5] user @LowKeyBrilliant on August 25th, 2021, depicting an unrelated scene from the film Stir Crazy alongside the caption, "Ron Jeremy and R.Kelly headed to federal prison." The tweet received over 3,100 likes and 600 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below).
