Drunk J. Crew is a single topic blog featuring advertisements for the clothing retailer J. Crew accompanied by intentionally misspelled captions meant to portray the models as if they are severely intoxicated.
Origin
On October 15th, 2014, the Drunk J. Crew blog was launched on Tumblr,[1] with its first post featuring a J. Crew ad with a blonde female model and the caption "my sisser is gon come pick me up in her subsaru ounback" (shown below).
Spread
On October 16th, the /r/DrunkJcrew[9] subreddit was launched. That evening, the @DrunkJCrew[10] Twitter feed was created, gathering upwards of 1,100 favorites and 175 followers in 24 hours. In the coming days, examples from the blog were highlighted by several news sites, including UpRoxx,[2] The Frisky,[3] The Verge,[4] BuzzFeed,[5] Mashable,[6] Complex[7] and The Daily Dot.[8]
