Dou Sha Cat, also known as Max20499, Maxwell 2049, Max the Bully or Deebo The Cat, refers to a viral cat known on TikTok for chasing his rivals in a Chinese apartment complex with a camera on his collar. The cat's content has been going viral since April 2024 and he was nicknamed Maxwell The Cat, similar to the Spinning Cat meme name, inspiring a series of speculation and ironic fandom posts in which people either defended the cat's behavior or jokingly asked for authorities to arrest him.
Origin
The TikTok account @Max202499[1] uploaded the earliest known video of Maxwell chasing after a neighbor's cat on April 24th, 2024. The video (seen below) shows a camera pinned to the cat's collar while he runs in a Chinese apartment complex, amassing more than 920,000 likes in seven months.

Dou Sha's Real Account
On October 21st, 2024, Maxxwell's actual owner posted a video on TikTok[4] under the username @doushabao2cat, revealing that the cat's actual name is Dou Sha. The post (seen below) amassed more than 44,000 plays and 2,000 likes in two weeks.

On October 28th, 2024, Dou Sha's owner @doushabao2cat[5] posted a video alleging that people were stealing her content from Douyin (the Chinese name for TikTok), which amassed over 1.1 million plays and 154,000 likes in four days.

Videos of Max20499's wild chases throughout the neighborhood are often accompanied by screeching, whining and hissing, which sparked memes and jokes on TikTok in early October 2024.
For example, on October 14th, 2024, TiKTok[2] user @asherglean posted a skit video captioned, "Your cat comes home after running into Max2049." The post (seen below) received more than 3.8 million plays and 700,000 likes in a day.
