Donald Trump Announces refers to a series of spreading misinformation memes and parodies that falsely claim President-elect Donald Trump has announced someone inappropriate to run a given governmental department using the phrasal template "Donald Trump announces that X will lead the Department of Y." The meme was popularized on X / Twitter in mid-November 2024 after the PopBase account made a post about Trump announcing that Elon Musk would run the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The meme is comparable to "reveals" meme formats, such as Jenna Ortega Reveals and Sydney Sweeney Reveals.

Origin

On November 12th, 2024, the X^[1] account @PopBase posted side-by-side photos of Trump and Musk, writing, "Donald Trump announces that Elon Musk will lead the Department of Government Efficiency alongside Vivek Ramaswamy," garnering over 27,000 likes and 17,000 reposts in a day.

Later that day, X^[2] user @StarWarsSarBear shared a parody of the post, instead posting images of Trump and the character Syril Karn from Star Wars: Andor, writing, "Donald Trump announces that Syril Karn will lead the Department of Sad Little Bitches Who Live With Their Moms And Can't Get Laid," garnering over 1,300 likes in a day. This is the earliest known example of the meme.

On November 12th, 2024, X^[3] user @FinalDude78 posted a version of the meme in which Trump announces that Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre will run the Department of Agriculture, garnering over 3,100 likes in a day. On the same day, X^[4] user @gayandold posted a version about Azealia Banks running the Department of Social Media, garnering over 12,000 likes in the same span of time.

Later that day, X^[5] user @clintoris posted a version in which Trump announces that Whoa Vicky will run the Department of Punctuation and Spelling, garnering over 35,000 likes in a day. On November 13th, X^[6] user @LyricVault posted a version in which Trump announces that Lea Michele will run the Department of Punctuation and Spelling, garnering over 6,200 likes in under a day. This is a reference to the rumors that she can't read.

Also on November 13th, 2024, X^[7] user @brookstweetz posted a version of the meme referencing the Dune series, writing, "Donald Trump announces Baron Harkonnen will head spice production on the planet of Arrakis," garnering over 1,300 likes in a few hours.
