Disney Pixar's Wallace refers to a viral hoax about an upcoming Disney Pixar movie called Wallace seemingly based on the life of Biggie Smalls, also known as the Notorious B.I.G. or by his real name Christopher Wallace. Starting in May 2023, a fake movie poster for Wallace started spreading on social media sites like Twitter and TikTok, among others, showing the heavy-set, Black, male Wallace with the tagline, "Something BIG is coming to theaters" and an imagined release date of May 24th, 2024. The image was AI-generated, created by AI artist Dusty Monroe (@buydusty on TikTok).

Origin

On May 30th, 2023, AI artist and TikToker^[1] @buydusty posted a video that showed a recent Disney Pixar movie poster he made, representing Christopher Wallace (a.k.a. Biggie Smalls) as the main character of Wallace. The video he posted gained roughly 1.6 million plays and 193,800 likes in one week. The image of the Wallace movie poster was uploaded to his website^[2] (shown below).

Spread

After TikToker^[1] @buydusty's video, others on social media started to post the Wallace movie poster, spreading a rumor that it was real. For instance, on June 3rd, 2023, the Facebook^[3] page Hip Hop Viral posted the image, writing, "Dunno how I feel bout a Biggie Pixar movie," gaining roughly 4,800 reactions in three days (shown below, left). Also on June 3rd, Twitter^[4] user @BM4RM914 captioned it, "Is this real," gaining roughly 4,800 likes in three days (shown below, right).

Viral Facebook^[5] and Reddit^[6] posts about the poster persisted going into June 2023.
