On May 16th, 2021, YouTuber[1] MeatCanyon uploaded a video titled “Gumballs In The Park,” which is a parody of the Regular Show cartoon in which the character Benson is harassing Mordecai and Rigby by making them eat his gumballs. The video (shown below) amassed over 15 million views and 715,000 likes in three years.

On July 9th, 2021, a fanmade Spanish dubbed version of the parody video was posted on TikTok[2] by @razorbatista04. In this version, Benson approaches the characters saying “Como tan muchacho?” and proceeds to harass them as the TikToker adds moans and other slang terms in Spanish. The video (shown below) amassed more than 181,000 plays and 29,000 likes in three years.

The Spanish-dubbed version of the parody video became the subject of memes and remixes over the following years. For example, on November 30th, 2023, the comedy duo @enzo_y_peltro[5] uploaded a live-action version of the meme (shown below), which amassed more than 542,000 likes in two months.

On December 22nd, 2023, YouTube[3] user @musicoscinicos uploaded a music version of the meme (shown below, left), which amassed over 113,000 views and 6,300 likes in two weeks. On December 4th, YouTuber[4] @Lone_Coyote reuploaded the live-action version of the “como tan muchacho” meme (shown below, right), which received roughly 851,000 views and 34,000 likes in a month.
