Buzzwole is a Pokémon from Pokémon Sun. A Bug/Fighting type, the Pokémon is one of the Ultra Beasts unique to the story of the seventh generation of games. Due to its highly muscular design, the Pokémon has been the subject of much Pokémon fan art.

Origin

Pokémon Sun and Moon was released on November 18th, 2016. As part of the game's post-game quest, the player tracks and either captures or defeats several Ultra Beasts. In Pokémon Sun, one of those Ultra Beasts, known as UB-02 Absorption before being captured, is Buzzwole (shown below).^[1]

Spread

Buzzwole's typing makes it advantageous against several types including Dark, Ground, and Fighting types, though it is doubly weak against Flying types.^[2] Quickly after the debut of the game, fan art of the character appeared. On December 20th, 2016, pixiv user Deo uploaded a comic where Buzzwole got offended that the character Guzma swatted a fly, gaining 55 likes (shown below).

In the anime of the show, Buzzwole gained attention after it literally deflated a Snorlax. A post about the scene on /r/pokemon^[3] gained over 650 upvotes.

On DeviantArt ^[4] and Tumblr, ^[5] there are hundreds of pieces of fan art devoted to Buzzwole.
