All the gems and their fusions try to fight her and fail. Steven and Connie will fight as Stevonnie for the first time against her. They'll try to get through to Lapis but it won't work. The gems will end up having to use research recovered by Peridot on fusion to at least make it possible to get through to them In the end, this will somehow allow to Stevonnie to make contact with Lapis/Jasper and overwhelm Malachite with the sincerity of their fusion, causing Lapis/Jasper to instinctively just know they shouldn't be together, regain their senses for a moment, and split apart.
