I think one reason these bullies are so successful at gaming the systems is that authors do just take it, and that is because authors don't know what else to do. The bullies are organized. They work in gangs. They encourage gang behavior and they use patterns of abuse to target authors. Most authors have no defense against this kind of thing whatsoever. I don't. And I'm a well known author. All I can do is urge people to report them to the websites they abuse. And of course bullies know this. They're well aware that they're cheating and gaming book sites to do harm to authors, and they enjoy their advantage, and seem to have few if any scruples about dishonesty. 101 15 hrs Anne RiceIt's a shame that these people have worked their way into online bookstores and book reviewing sites, but I'm convinced that we can get rid of them by urging the sites to enforce their existing guidelines. X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address.
