Sakurai doesn't think Freddy would be accurately portrayed in the game unless his features were changed drastically. "I know that Freddy's a frequently voted name for fans, but if we made him as a fighter, it wouldn't be Freddy any longer," Sakurai said in his Famitsu column. "He'd have to lose the teeth, get the multiple faces taken off his body, and stop harassing children." "Providing accurate portrayals of characters is something I want to pay ample attention to," he continued. "If I don't stick to that thought, then we'd have to lower the quality or break the balance of the game Something that goes way off spec could break the entire game."
