I like Milo's writing and wit, so I follow him on Twitter. He is a definitely a partisan with a strong point of view but also fearless and funny. A good combination that's never boring. I like him. There are many more whom I like on the Anti-GG side, which l also happily follow like Damion Schubert, whose ideas and opinions give me grounding to challenge and check my own beliefs about things. This is something I have never experienced before Little did I know, that Milo Yiannopoulos currently bears the gaming community's Twitter version of the scarlet letter. This flaming mark of public shame and exile which was apparently sewn on his breast (profile) by Anti- GamerGate loyalists, who created auto-blocking bots that systematically mute and silence a wide-swath of GG partisans, and their friends, whom they violently dislike and disagree with. You are blocked from following Learn more and viewin Tweets I had heard about these Twitter Auto-Blockers before, and thought the use of these tools to be extremely sad .One because there are no proper harassment protection tools on Twitter, which Polygon's Ben Kuchera has ingeniously identified the solutions for in this great piece. Which makes these tactics thinkable Two-because these auto-blocker tactics leave no hope for change or progress. It's the cement walls of the West Bank and Gaza, forever dividing the two groups which probably have more in common than not. I'm just not a fan of collective punishment, or guilt by association. These two tactics in real life usually lead to terrible results by stripping individuals of their agency and humanity. In warfare, dehumanization and 'othering allows more flexibility for the troops, and their administrators, to you know temporarily abandon ethics and morality, for the greater good, and other such mindless rationalizations. A dangerous but all too familiar historical phenomena in war, but also with strong roots in our entertainment history -such as the Hollywood Blacklists for communist sympathizers.

Author has 304 answers and 740.1K answer views. 5y Not that I care that much either way, but it did expose a lot of corrupt game developers and game journalists. X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address.
