JUN 22, 2014/112 NOTES These are three cartoon shows I'm REALLY looking forward to The first one is Star Butterfly from Star and the Forces of Evil, created by Daron Nefcy. You should also check out some of her shorts. Also the first Disney Channel show with a female creator! I've been really digging cartoonists like Rebecca Sugar, Natasha Allegri and Brianne Drouhard, so I'm really excited about this The second one is Over the Garden Wall by Pat McHale (who worked on Adventure Time). I saw stills from his pilot "Tome of the Unknown" about a year or two ago and thought it was really cool- looking and hoped I could see the pilot someday. The other reason I'm excited that it actually got picked up is that it's CN's first MINI-SERIES. I really hope it does well so we can have more miniseries! I'd love the idea of a deliberately short cartoon show (much like how there are 12-13 episode anime), so you can tell an ongoing story with a conclusive ending The third is "We Bare Bears" which is based off Toy Story of Terror director Daniel Chong's webcomic "The Three Bare Bears." It's not especially long at 9 strips, but that means you should go read it now as you can finish it in 10 minutes or less! Much like with Axe Cop, I really love the idea of more webcomics being adapted to animation, aside from webmanga (i.e. Hetalia) EDIT: I now updated this to include Niko and the Sword of Light as a 4th cartoon. It's also based off a comic, it looks like it'll be detailed and in addition to a real kid voicing Niko, it'll have a bunch of great voice actors (which I like in more "mature" cartoons). And it's animated by TITMOUSE The same people who do Motorcity, Turbo F.A.S.T. and the latest season of Venture Bros! Their work is GORGEOUS.
