He is a good visionary and world builder admittedly, but he works far better in a team. Nobody acknowledges his coworkers Everything good or bad that has come out of Star Wars is ALL pinned on him. That's not fair. The world was a collaborative effort. In fact, the script treatments for the original trilogy were rewritten multiple times and not by Lucas. Why? Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill among others told Lucas his dialogue was terrible. Ford particularly said George, you can type this s---, but you sure as hell can't say it." Actually, if you look at the behind the scenes there is one major difference between the originals and the prequels people don't cite enough. In the originals people called Lucas out on stupid stuff, reeled him in, and pulled their weight. In the prequels, everybody looks nervous but Lucas, they all fawn over him, and nobody calls him out when he says something silly despite obviously disliking it (you can see it on their faces and some of them admit this later in interviews and things like that) That's because he got undeserved status from the originals as if he was some sort of messiah. Meanwhile, everyone who worked with him only gets acknowledgement in credits rather than from the general public Lucas had full control over the prequels and it shows. Lucas did not have full control over the originals and it shows. Lucas is not Star Wars. Star Wars is Lucas plus anyone who ever worked on them with him. You can dislike Lucas as a writer and still respect him as a visionary while still loving the Star Wars mythos. Star Wars transcends Lucas. He was just the spark that his colleagues helped form into something spectacular Like Δ 6-4 hours ago . Edited
