Blue's team kind of sucked

Notes:

For a start, Alakazam is packing both Psybeam and Psychic, the former being a weaker version of the latter.

Rhydon has Leer AND Tail Whip, which both do the same thing. Also it has no rock or ground type moves, so none of its attacks get STAB.

Gyarados has Leer, which is entirely pointless considering it only serves to make its Hyper Beam stronger, considering its other moves are either Specially focused or inflict fixed amounts of damage.

Charizard knows Rage, which, as we all know, in Generation 1 meant it would have to use every single turn once it was selected, unable to change moves or switch out – until it dies. Also it has Fire Spin; which is not only less than half the power of Ember, is also hugely inaccurate. And of course it wouldn't even know Wing Attack to take advantage of the extra STAB, no of course you would use Slash which is weaker in every respect.

But Exeggutor takes the cake. Not only are its attacks next to useless, It only has three of them. This is actually impossible when you consider there is no move deleter in Generation 1, so Blue is bending the laws of what is physically possible in Pokémon.
