In the episode "Apple Family Reunion" of Season 3, Applejack uses Spike to light up some fires … using him as a flamethrower to do so. Wouldn't all those steaming pots and wood fall onto Celestia since Spike's fire is like mail? But look how powerful it is! Holy crap.
