As long as he is moving, he does not care about any hazards. If Mario is not moving, he starts being concerned with sinking into quicksand. If Mario is not moving and there is no quicksand, he starts being concerned about poison gas. If Mario is not moving and there is no quicksand or poison gas, he starts being concemed about being low on health. If Mario is not moving and there is no quicksand or poison gas and he is not low on health, he starts being concerned about being cold. Finally, if none of the aforementioned factors are present, Mario is at peace and can go to sleep.
