If they do bring it up, it's only a passing mention - Can trace their geneology to the first settlers of the town, and possibly even earlier -Tries to pass on their knowledge and passion for local history to younger generations; time will tell if they're succsessful. BUR AUTRESTAL HAMILTOX ****** H The New York 2 Tam LINCOLN THE Hist History PRESS -Any gender, usually in their 30s-50s - Reads lighter works of popular history often, but not always, written by Non- Academics Ora - Also Acumentaries on PBS, and if they're younger, youtube videos - Romanticizes the early History Channel as a paragon of educational and historical content -Watches historical movies reguraly, often using articles they find online to NBRENGER DANIELSSHEE GETTYSBURG seek out the most accurate ones. -Goes onto Askreddit threads to post pieces of historical trivia they found - Likely a massive Hamilton Fan, and, if they're into early American history, has read numerous "Founders Chic" books. - Type B's can annoy me at times, but they're usually ok Type F - Likely a middle aged man - Obsessed with the American Civil War; takes yearly pilgrimages to various battlefields. - High probability of partaking in War Reenactments. UNIVERSITY PRESS J P Princeton University STOR Press AskHistorians Any Gender, any age - Actively seeks out the densest, most academically rigorous history books imaginable on a particular event or period of time (they may even has a preffered historiagraphical approuch) - Has a JSTOR Account Takes hours just to get a book from the history section of a bookstore or library due to searching for reviews of each book they're interested in on JSTOR - Loathes Guns, Germs, and Steel with a burning passion - Regularly browses r/AskHistorians, possibly even writing answers - Writes posts with the length and rigor of a dissertation responding to a single reddit comment, article, or 5 minute youtube video on r/badhistory - Either an actual professional historian, or wishes they were one. Owns a cherished copy of all three volumes of Shelbey Foote's The Civil War: A Narrative CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS OXFORD - Cares mostly about the military history of the war: the strategy and tactics, the weaponry, & the personalities of the generals; could list off all the regiments present at any given battle. - Couldn't Care less about the causes of the war, the politics immeadiately before it, or during it on either side -50% Chance of being a Lost Causer, and almost certainly whitewashes confederate military leaders such as Lee or Jackson -Partakes in an anuual viewing of Ron Maxwell's Gettysburg, & Ken Burns's The Civil War - Has watched the entirety of at least one lecture series online - This is me TBH Type G VENIMO K MGMT Little Dark Age EVER PAX TUBE - Always a terminally online teenage boy or Manchild - Much like Type A, they have never read a history book in their lives - Worships the aesthetics of globe spanning empires while whitewashing or even glorifying the attrocities they commited -Makes Little Dark Age Edits decrying "modernity" and "degeneracy" while glorifying a historically innacurate and imagined depiction of the past - Describes themselves as a "Traditionalist" -Probably has a Wojak of a german soldier or a roman statue for a profile picture - Watches youtube channels such as "Paxtube" or "Zoomer Historian - Constantly talks about how advanced the NAZI wunderwaffe program was - Whines about "Academia" Techn "Dette LUCY WORSLEY'S 12 DAYS OF Tudor Christmas likely a woman in her 30s-50s - Reads books about court intrigue and life and the lives of daily lives royalty, nobles, and the wealthy Usually has an obsession with one particular period of time (usually either the Tudor Era, the Regency, or the Gilded Age) - Massive fan of lavish period films, particural romances. - Cares more about the minute details of the daily lives of individual nobles of a than broader aspects of a given society and culture or social and political movements in said society. - Loves to tour historic mansions or palaces whenever they're near one. - Decent chance of being into historical costuming as well Type H ALIVY SEA HISTORY Y FIDE - Applicable to all demographics - Has a massive obsession with maritime history - Grew up on the water and never grew out of it - Probably livid Pirates of the Carribean has an entire film series but Master & Commander only got one movie If obssessed with ccean liners in particular, they treat the scrapping of the RMS Ólympic with the same level of tragedy as the Burning of the Library of Alexandria - Routinely visits and likely volunteers at their local maritime museum - Some of them can have an hours long debate about how the breakup of the Titanic really occured - There's honestly so many subdivisions within this type it deserves it's own starterpack
