Star Wars: X-Wing was released in 1993. Lawrence Holland made the game from his previous experience with Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, Their Finest Hour, and Battlehawks 1942. Unlike previous titles, X-Wing had 3D models for the ships and objects, making for an impressive (and demanding) game at the time. Although often overshadowed by the more impressive TIE Fighter, X-Wing was an impressive game in its own right, establishing the series as a powerhouse for Lucasarts. Unfortunately, X-Wing Alliance would be the last of the series, released six years later.
