Both forms of Gimmighoul have different personalities.

In Chest Form, Gimmighoul hides inside its treasure chest, providing defense but making it hard for Gimmighoul to move. When it senses a person or Pokémon draw near, it will use ghost energy to possess its target and force them to collect coins. It tends to hide in places such as warehouses and shop corners to ambush people and Pokémon. It controls people to collect about 999 coins to fill its chest.

In Roaming Form, Gimmighoul is extremely timid, running away as soon as anyone approaches. Despite being found everywhere in Paldea, no one had been able to capture Roaming Form Gimmighoul. Sometimes, Roaming Gimmighoul can bee seen near its Chest counterpart
