airbnb.com Airbnb: Incredible places to stay and things to do Aa 4-5 minutes Greetings! Although I am not opposed to travel with young children, (I chose to have 4 children in 6 years myself), as stated in many areas of the listing, (which maybe was missed), this home is not set up for small children. The home is furnished and designed to accommodate my own children currently ages 11, 13, 15, and 17. The home has been newly remodeled, painted, furnished and outfitted with many plants within arm's reach, breakables, luxury linens, etc. and marketed/priced for a luxurious, quality stay for couples, or adult get- a-ways and not for families with young children. The home is situated on a golf course and no homes in the community have fences. The particular layout of the home with open railings, a floating main staircase, and a 4th bedroom/3rd bathroom disconnected from the main house via a separate staircase from the garage does not make the home conducive for stays for guests with young children. Unfortunately, some recent stays of guests with young children have caused damages and left the house in such disarray posing a challenge to do a proper turnover and offer a quality stay for upcoming guests. An exterior doorknob was broken, the telescope was broken and stains of spilled drinks/food absent the dining area were all throughout the house. Another recent group that stayed over a prior weekend made it difficult for a thorough clean and efficient turnover in between guests as well. The recently painted walls and freshly washed windows were smeared with hand prints, and food debris. Beds end tables, essential cords and lamps were moved to accommodate pack and plays and air mattresses and co-sleeping. Sofa cushions were removed and strewn about by other guests with young children. Nothing was put back in order upon departure. Soiled diapers were not disposed of in the outside garbage can and left inside to permeate throughout the house. I am thinking this group was overwhelmed with the adult to kid ratio in that setting. Another stay had chocolate on the duvets, area rugs and sofa. Many of furniture items had children's pencil drawings including the tv console table. One bed was so full of sand the whole bed had to be disassembled to vacuum thoroughly. Thankfully in this particular stay, there was no permanent stains or damages, but the cleaning was more involved than it would have been for a stay of guests without young children. Bodega Bay is located on the rural Sonoma Coast, yet since it is at the water's edge its a a high cost of living area. Cleaning vices either have to transport in workers from afar and/or pay high cost of living wages. Those high costs are passed onto me. I am charged $263 for basic cleaning and transfer a $250 cleaning fee to guests which does not include washing of linens or turnover or does it address putting items back in place or dealing with stains and fixing or replacing damaged items, that I all do myself. With that being said, I am not sure my accommodations can meet the needs of your stay. Previous guests have assured me they are well aware of limitations the home presents for young children and they will keep a careful watch on their children and abide by house rules, but clearly that hasn't always been the case. This poses a challenge, because I think the end goal for both of us is for a quality stay. My hope is that we receive a positive review from you and your group and my goal is that we can offer you the same reciprocated review. In this moment, I am looking into if I can somehow adminster a fee similiar to a pet fee for stays for guests with young children knowing extra work is involved when children are in involved similar to pets. From experience, the cleaning and turnover have been more complex and the cost and time involved have been higher to me as a host and without a supplemental fee, it is favorable/easier for me to deny requests for guests with children under the age of 12. At this time, I will not accept your request until I hear back from you and we have further communication and can mutually agree that the stay would be a good fit for both of us.
