Know Your Meme
Warning: First world complaining ahead and, yeah, I realize there's starving in Darfur and a global pandemic. I apologize in advance. (Maybe. I'm not sure.) Has anyone who's come to rely on the grocery delivery services become more frustrated, (periodically enraged?) over both the consistency and quality? We don't have kids in our house and began ordering on both Instacart and Whole Foods just before COVID hit. It's definitely a splurge and I've taken time to shop in person for the exact same items I order online and have compared the surprising differences in pricing. It's no bargain. Whole Foods has become the absolute worse and it isn't just Whole Foods that's the problem, I think an increasing number of immigrants who have been rapidly hired to take the jobs has also lead to frustration. Just today, a big grocery order of $146 arrived missing nearly half of the items. What was supposed to be $146 in Whole Foods items came to $94. Missing were the same tomatoes we get every week, the little pack of black and white cookies I'm ashamed to admit I like, a half-gallon of whole milk. .MILK! W--?!? There's no way Whole Foods was out of every brand of whole milk at 11 am this morning. So you go to the effort, the time, and the extra expense to save on time and gas, and end up with little of what you wanted. And that's when they don't substitute your 2lbs of chicken breast for the next closest thing.... ground turkey! (Yeah, they've actually done this.). In my head, the shopper is either a half-witt, carelessly tossing s--- into the cart while streaming Season 2 of Fleabag, or some new person from African who Catholic Charities has once again dumped off in Portland without even the slightest care in helping them acclimate to their new home. Of course, that likely isn't the case, but something definitely up. Anybody else experiencing this, or is it just my bad luck?

Dear Anonymous Passerby, Don't worry, you're safe now! Your act of casual cruelty was successful. The complaint you lodged with the HOA was heard. They had me take down the small treefort that I built on this location with my sons during the pandemic. No longer will its presence offend your walk) past my house. Please enjoy your stroll free from the sound of my children's play and laughter. They are safely back inside now, watching television I'm sure. Enjoy the unobstructed view of my backyard.
