Sat, Jul 3, 3:47 PM (4 days ago) to me I am bothered by the Caren law you have just enacted. Not that it calls out racists but that it calls out women racist. Only. It is not such an insidious act of sexism. Blacks and women have always been targets and this law substitutes one form of repression for another. I am a white woman of a certain age. I have never called the police on a black person. Yet, I am now getting called Caren every time I say something to other people, no matter what race, about anything I have an issue with - most common - people not wearing their masks. I still don't call the police but I get called..Karen. I want you to understand. Women are called Karen's. Women have always had to live up to a higher standard. Time Magazine just ran an article called "The View Society: 'Karen" and the violence of White Womanhood". This article claims it is the white women who are the ones with the power. It says because the white women were able to say to their plantation owning husbands, that a black man r---- her they had the power. Yet the plantation owners actually did r--- their black slaves. It is the women who get called Karen's. Although the country was outraged when Ahmaud Arbery, was hunted down and murdered by white men it is the women who get called Karen's. These women are calling the cops to complain that their lily-white world is somehow being marred by black people. But it is the white cop shooting the black man. It is the white cop kneeling on a black man's neck. The women are not taking the law into their own hands other than to call the cop but It is the women who get called Karen's. They are not r----- or murdering but because sexism, not just racism is so inherent in our society it is the women who are called out or called Karen's. Again from the article, "I'm going to call the police and tell them that an African American man is threatening my life is a very racially violent statement and a racially violent act". This places as much blame of violence on a phone call rather than the act of shooting. Is this because it is easier to shame women and appear to be caring for justice against African Americans, while there are unknown attempts to harm black people by men? Why are we holding women accountable for racism when it was the men who owned slaves when white women had no power? Now it is the white men killing black people when the white women are making phone calls. Call the cops on me any day but don't shoot. It is way over time for both sexism and racism to end. Since this conversation has begun (again) think about the terms one uses to focus blame on the phone as a weapon and distract from the issue of the men with guns as the issue. And if one chooses to want to blame the phones how about blaming the guns and enacting stricter gun laws? Perhaps we can't change people's minds but we can hold all accountable, men and women for their illegal actions. Perhaps we need a gender-neutral term, like racist rather than the women who get called Karen's. But if you are inclined to use the term Karen, then perhaps you may just be a sexist. Supervisor Walton in trying to protect black people, you have done a real disservice to women. Shame on you, Not Sent from my iPhone

Dear Anonymous Passerby, Don't worry, you're safe now! Your act of casual cruelty was successful. The complaint you lodged with the HOA was heard. They had me take down the small treefort that I built on this location with my sons during the pandemic. No longer will its presence offend your walk) past my house.
