In this case it was 1USD=18MXN. The actual rate in dollar the exchange booth was roughly around 19 mxn at the time. And as I stated, every business chooses their exchange rate, some even more exaggerated than ours. So when you said "you had never seen this practice before" maybe it's because you haven't been paying attention. And before you call a business a rip off, we didn't force you to pay or use your dollars. We were more than willing to guide you to the nearest exchange booth, with the best rate. And sorry to state the obvious, but you ARE IN MEXICO, where pesos are used. It's our currency. Maybe it would be a good idea to carry some if you're gonna be here and buying things. I apologize if you think you're getting "scammed", because you're not. But you should probably do more research before you make claims like these. Good day.
