If for some completely unexpected reason there had been a request to do an episode about it (and how could there be, because it's way too heavy for the show) I would have called a writer's meeting. Together, we would have figured out if it was more interesting to have an outside force corrupt her, or to have her own magic corrupted from within by negative emotions. I can really see a scenario where he says something cutting about the night not being appreciated, and after his defeat, his words stick in Luna's mind. The more she looks, the more she sees the 'truth' in Discord's words, and the more she is consumed with jelousy But, if it was a new episode, it'd probably be a whole new issue rather than a callback to Discord, and even THEN it really is too heavy to feasably approach. Oh well, we do love to theorise One of the things I really loved about Luna in season two is that you could see that yes, she had been Nightmare Moon, she had the capacity, and she struggled with it. She was sweet and out-of touch, but she had a backbone and she had a lot of regrets. I loved the moment where she was sitting in the shade of the Nightmare Moon statue, nudging a child's discarded piece of candy forlonely, as if bemoaning her past mistakes, wondering if she'll ever move beyond them Reply Can I just extend my praise for packing that amount of depth into that few seconds? It was a fantastic piece of storytelling for those sharp enough to catch it.
