I should mention that I'm not here to defend these two. Rian Johnson may be a great director when he makes his own movies (Looper & Knives Out being two prime examples), but he had zero understanding of the Star Wars franchise when it came to directing TLJ. Say what you want about the Prequels, but in my honest opinion, Jar Jar Binks had more character development in the entirety of the Prequels than Rey Palpatine ever did.

And the less I talk about Neil Druckmann and how he arsed up TLOU2, the better. That game is one that I deeply and genuinely despise.
