Laura A a day ago I was duped into thinking this is a true or at least partially true story as it is presented as a biopic. I didn't want any spoilers so I held off looking up Elizabeth Harmon on Wikipedia until after I finished the series. Turns out she doesn't exit, never existed. I know, I am a fool. But who the heck wants to watch such a detailed series about a person who never existed? It is like making a mini series about the first person who walked on the moon, who happened to be a woman, starting with her childhood and then her college years and then the rigorous astronaut training and all of the sexism she overcame along the way and also a drug problem she overcame too with and lots and lots of detail about all of the things that shaped, motivated and inspired her to become the first person to walk on the moon, but sorry it never happened! If the Queen's Gambit had been a true story or at least inspired by a true story, the series would get five stars from me. But even with covid, I don't appreciate having wasted seven plus hours of my life watching a biography of a woman who never existed! 6 people found this helpful. IG Helpful
