I think this episode opened my eyes to what Jerry really is: he is the Dan Harmon Story Circle made flesh. He is the Inevitable, Unrelenting Crawling Mediocrity. He is the Fail with many names: Gilligan, Jethro Bodine, Archie Bunker, Al Bundy, Homer Simpson, Jon Arbuckle, Peter Griffin, Spike, George Costanza. He is the bottomless maw that swallows up all Character Development and keeps humanity crucified on the fell Status Quo, churning out one pointless Slice of Life after the other until the Heat Death of the Universe.
