I will also be keeping them informed on comments and questions from this thread, and your usual cadre of reddit mods will be around to answer questions as well During the chaotic reaction to the SCP wiki and our associated social media logo changes for Pride Month, a number of users began trolling our platforms in ways that required staff intervention. In the endeavor to remove toxicity, several of the users and staff members who run or moderate our social media platforms overstepped their authority in disciplining several accounts which were not actually trolling and had legitimate concerns or criticisms of the change We apologize for mistaking those accounts for trolls, and for overreaching with our moderation in the past few days and earlier. Staffing changes have occurred because of these mistakes, including the removal of disciplinary positions from users and staff deemed overreaching, and we are working on ensuring this will not happen again We hope you can understand that, in the event of a large number of responses, people can make mistakes. We also hope you can appreciate that we are trying to make amends If you feel you have been unfairly banned please send a modmail We would like to reaffirm our support of the LGBT community and state that, while not liking the flag is not an offense in itself, bigotry and homophobia will remain not tolerated on the wiki or our social media accounts. ![The First Amendment and You: How to Avoid Getting Your 1334 Knickers in a Twist Because of Some Colors (self.SCP) submitted 1 day ago by djKaktus Based God [M] x Hey everyone. djkaktus here again There was a discussion thread the other day about how the site logo has changed from the typical SCP logo to the typical SCP logo with some colors on it. While the response to this aesthetic change was overwhelmingly positive, both on the site and on the subreddit, there were a few people who felt like seeing those colors affected their ability to read content on the wiki. There were a few more who felt like discussion about those colors in some way infringed upon their right to free speech. I'd like to address those things in short, starting with the second thing The staff of the SCP Foundation Wiki, as well as the overwhelming majority of its on-site readerbase has, historically, stood in solidarity with the causes those colors represent. Individuals who identify with those colors have found themselves to be the subject of persecution, many throughout their entire lives. Whether or not you think that persecution exists is irrelevant; though this may be difficult to hear, your experiences are not the experiences of every person who ever lived With that in mind, the staff of the wiki has decided that, as a part of that standing in solidarity, they would make a minor aesthetic change to thee website during the month in which pride in those colors is expressed. This is no different than someone wearing a t-shirt that has colors on it that represent the colors of their nation of origin during the month that nation gained their independence, for example - in fact, many of those people find they have a stronger connection to these colors than any national colors. We here at the ole SCP subreddit sure do think that's swell, and hope you do too But there are some outspoken individuals who feel like, whenever they make comments that in some way detract from the who say things that marginalize the aforementioned experiences and face downvotes, that they are in some way having their first amendment rights infringed upon. Issue with the first amendment not forcing the protections of certain kinds of speech upon private entities aside, the point I need to make about people who feel as if they are being threatened by the big bad color mafia is this: of these people or If you are offended that the SCP Foundation wiki community is celebrating Pride in June, and are offended that you receive downvotes when you express that sentiment, do understand that you will receive no sympathy from this moderator team. We are uninterested in your arguments. We are uninterested in the perceived political throat-shoving you claim to experience. We cannot untwist your knickers for you, so either find a way to untwist them yourself or f--- off for a month Lastly, for those who absolutely can't go without the wiki for a month (trust me, I'm there) but just cannot stand that garish colored thing in the top left corner (because we all know the coloreds have no place on the wiki, amirite?), then follow these five steps to make sure you don't have to look at it anymore NOTE: This only works for Windows computers.
