My first gameboy was GBC, and I had both Silver and Crystal ( still keep them to this day, everything is functional) for me the greatest thing about all this Gold "97 discoveries, beside the unreleased pokemons, is finally figuring out the mysteries of the Unown. I remember that in Silver I just couldn't understand tf was supposed to be that Unown Cave. I mean, sure, it had puzzles in it, they even expand them a little in Crystal too, but what was the point of releasing all the letter Unowns into the cave? literally nothing happened when you were done with it. I specifically remember that I thought that perhaps it had something to do with Ho-oh, that maybe he was supposed to appear there (as I had the Silver version, in an era without internet to check and figure out that it wasn't suppose to appear at all), but when I found out that it didn't I thought it was extremely weird. the fact that it simply appeared in the second tower was even more odd to me Now, with this Beta in our hand, I think I can figure out what's happening here- > so in the Pokemon lore the Unowns were probably real people (or pokemons). The Ruins used to be their homeland, but it was all destroyed in a war long ago, and they died as victims of it. > Ho-Oh revived those dead bodies of people/Pokemons back to life as the Unowns (just like the beasts) Since then the Unowns lurk in the ruins 1. The Ho-Oh puzzle in the original Silver+Crystal (otherwise, why not Lugia puzzle? why Ho-Oh at all?) The resemblance of the cave in the beta to the Hiroshima ruins 4. kind of a reach, but the 3rd movie had Unowns that were related to the little gil's mother. they basically reacted to a dead person.
