Goku held back when fighting both Zamasu and Black, something Trunks was baffled about, and Vegeta even pointing out as a very bad habit. It wasn't until he learned about Zamasu killing his family that he started taking things seriously. However, the arc ultimately ends with Goku screwing over everyone by forgetting the Mafuba seal AND summoning Future Zeno, which all resulted in Trunks' timeline being obliterated Now recent episodes seem to highlight more on toxic traits of Goku. Krillin was upset that Goku can be so easygoing about things. In this episode alone, Goten was notably trying his best to help his father be a more considerate person.
