ssansy Okay I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert on evolution and natural adaptations, but I LOVE how Rattata's design change isn't purely to look more like a Dark type, but it actually fits the reason it was forced to evolve like this. Rattata Alola Foum So Alolan Rattata came about when regular Rattata was introduced to Alola, but they quickly became overpopulated. This caused the Alolan people to bring over Yungoos to hunt the Rattata. So since Rattata was being hunted so much, t had to adapt to survive. Firstly, it became nocturnal, since Yungoos is only active in the day, but that's not it. It had a lot of subtle physical changes to help it survive. I'll list what I can see. Both nostrils on the front of the face, rather than the sides. Allows for a more focused sense of smell. Ears facing forward for more focused hearing. Eyes further forward for more focused vision Rounder head for a little extra protection. Sharp, pointed teeth for more effective attacks and hunting. Sharper claws for more effective attacks and hunting. Slimmer, longer body for added speed. Larger, more powerful legs for added speed. Black fur for camoflague at night. Basically, from an evolutionary perspective, Alolan Rattata is far superior to regular Rattata. It basically adapted to both avoid predators, and BE a better predator
