Don't get me wrong. I am looking forward to Overwatch. The whole thing has a whiff of 80s cartoons about it, with colourful heroes and villains fighting each other, hopefully with a toy line to follow!
Tracer's line from the original trailer, though, makes no sense if you're familiar with proper, British use of the word "cheers". It basically means "thanks".
"Cheers, Love. The cavalry's here."
What?! "Thanks, Love. The cavalry's here."? What are you saying?!
That, combined with the D--- Van D--- accent, irked something fierce, and I initially thought it was a combination of American voice acting and "I watched a Guy Ritchie film before writing this dialogue and I don't quite understand what these colloquialisms actually mean" script writing.
Tracer's voice actress, however, and much to my surprise/horror, is a Brit. A Brit who didn't pipe up when presented with the script and told "sound more English".
