Continuing from part 7, Sans tells the player to explore Snowdin Town since "they only care about their work". The player goes off to the shop to buy some stuff there and chat with the shopkeeper. One of the most important thing that the player learns during the chat is an event known as The Festival. This is what they do:

Eventually, the player tries to exit the town, only to run into Papyrus, where he challenges the player to a fight.
