You're the Best Looking Guy Here refers to a screen capture from the 1999 role-playing game Final Fantasy VIII in which the character Rinoa Heartilly tells the protagonist Squall Leonhart that he is "the best looking guy here," followed by a closeup of the character's pixelated face to mock the low-resolution graphics used in the game.
Origin
On August 16th, 2013, Redditor ozzymustaine submitted a screencap of the Final Fantasy VIII scene followed by a zoomed-in closeup of Squall's pixelated face (shown below). Prior to being archived, the post gained over 2,500 points (95% upvoted) and 1,700 comments on /r/gaming.[1]
Spread
In April 2015, Tumblr[2] user rakugaki-otoko drew an illustration of the Squall closeup (shown below). The original post has since been removed, but can be found archived on Rebloggy.[3]
On March 16th, 2018, Redditor Launceron submitted a photoshopped Final Fantasy Record Keeper image with a pixelated Squall superimposed over the opening screen (shown below). Prior to being archived, the post gathered more than 540 points (95% upvoted) and 65 comments.
Final Fantasy VIII Remaster
On June 11th, 2019, Imgur user cowardlypastry posted the pixelated Squall face next to an image from the upcoming Final Fantasy VIII remaster with a You vs. the Guy She Told You Not to Worry About caption (shown below).
On August 13th, the @FinalFantasy Twitter account tweeted a video of the scene from the remaster, which zooms in on Squall's face after being told "You're the best looking guy here" (shown below). Within 48 hours, the video gained over 1.4 million views, 47,600 likes and 14,800 retweets.
