The emoji was used as a reaction image (shown below) accompanied by the caption "realizing when I'm acting like my father," amassing over 49,000 likes and 11,000 retweets in five months.

For example, on September 6th, 2023, X^[2] user @DeadlyCreatorYT used the Yellow Emoji in Darkness meme to reply to a tweet about spoilers of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
