Widerolling was a concept first introduced in 2022 by a group of high school students who accidentally screen-casted a video of their friend, Mohammad, walking to the class TV, leaving the entire class laughing and the teacher extremely confused. The meme was originally based on and inspired by the 2020 Wide Putin Walking meme, where Putin is shown walking but he's been stretched horizontally, making him look wide. This was made as part of the Wide World Leaders Walking series, where world leaders around the world are shown as being "'powerful" through the wide filter. In 2021, this group of students met with Mohammad to create this meme and upload it to YouTube under "Wide Mohammad". Wide Mohammad was an instant hit in the school, and students were sharing it with their friends. The video hit over 400 views, but the hype for it soon died out.
This was until the screen-casting incident. Seeing Wide Mohammad on the classroom TV with the teacher being extremely confused reminded people of the idea of a rickroll, where one sends a link, video, image, or any other type of digital media which leads to a song by Rick Astley. Thus, the students continued screen-casting Wide Mohammad to the classroom TV's during different classes, leaving teachers confused and somewhat amused at this figure on their TV screens, walking, looking wide but highly powerful. Soon, this became known as Widerolling, and more and more people were catching on to the trend.
This all conveniently happened right before the school elections, where Mohammad was planning on running. And so, students took inspiration from the Widerolling that was happening in the school and started spreading it like wildfire.
