About
"Wah Gwan Delilah" refers to a song by Toronto rapper Snowd4y featuring fellow hip-hop artist Drake, which was released in early June 2024, shortly after the Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake feud. The song was a Toronto accent remix of "Hey There Delilah" by the Plain White T's and became the subject of memes and jokes on Twitter / X, Reddit and TikTok (among other social media sites) shortly after its release.
Origin
On June 3rd, 2024, rapper Snowd4y released the song "Wah Gwan Delilah" featuring Drake on SoundCloud,[1] receiving over 231,000 listens and 14,000 likes in a day (shown below).
Spread
Soon after, on June 3rd, 2024, X[2] user @nfr_podcast tweeted a snippet of the song with Drake's verse, gaining over 25.3 million views and 23,000 likes in a day. Some original reactions questioned if the song was AI-generated, such as X[3] user @vidsthatgohard on June 3rd, who posted a The Boondocks clip captioned, "This isn’t AI ????" gaining over 5,100 likes in a day (shown below).

Viral quotes of the video also surfaced, like one shared by X[4] user @big_business_ on June 3rd, who said, "Nothing could’ve prepared me to what I was about to hear when I pressed play," receiving over 62,000 likes in a day (shown below, left).
Also on June 3rd, 2024, X[5] user @brndxix tweeted the GIF of Thanos taking Vision's infinity stone, writing, "kendrick taking j cole and drakes talent after beefing with them," receiving over 26,000 likes in less than a day (shown below, right).
Later on June 3rd, X[6] user @tayredacted tweeted a photo of British dancehall rapper M Dot R paired with the name of the song "Wah Gwan Delilah," gaining over 2,200 likes in a day (shown below).
During the same timeframe, discourse about "Wah Gwan Delilah" surfaced on Reddit's /r/hiphopheads.[7]
Memes and reaction videos also spread on TikTok, like a video posted by TikToker[8] @zell4z on June 3rd, 2024, in which they gave the song a "0/10" score and wrote, "This should be the final nail in the coffin for Drake." The video received roughly 162,700 plays and 7,500 likes in a day (shown below).
