-Uzz, also known as Uzz Words or Words That End In -Uzz, refers to the "-uzz" suffix used to make portmanteaus of the slang term huzz, meaning "hoes." Huzz started as an AAVE slang term popularized by Twitch streamer Kai Cenat and other Black content creators in 2023. In late 2024, huzz memes went viral on TikTok and a slew of words ending with "-uzz" like bruzz were created. Other Uzz Words include "gruzz," "fuzz" and "chuzz," among others. Uzz words trended alongside other TikTok slang terms like yunc and fine shyt in November 2024, and were often combined to form slang overload posts akin to so-called brainrot. The -Uzz meme is similar to other portmanteaus like -Ussy or how rizz was mutated into puns in the rizz nicknames trend.

Origin

Huzz

On February 16th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @clippedode shared a clip of Twitch streamer Kai Cenat using the phrase "for the huzz" while live, referring to a group of women. The clip is the earliest known use of the term online. Over one year, it received roughly 41,100 plays and 2,300 likes (shown below).

Spread

On February 18th, 2023, the term "huzz" was added to the Urban Dictionary.^[2] Non-viral use of Huzz then spread to Reddit^[3] and Twitter / X.^[4]

Huzz began amassing viral content consistently by the end of 2024. For instance, on August 27th, TikToker^[5] @slizzymatt shared a video, using a clip from a Cinnamon Toast Crunch commercial, captioned, "When the huzz canceled the 2 man but I'm already 30 mins into the honey pack and its just us." Over three months, the video received roughly 5.8 million plays and 1.2 million likes (shown below).

Huzz attracted more viral usage, like a viral tweet using the term shared by X^[6] user @RickyScang42 on October 27th, which also mentioned LeBron Hennessy. The tweet received over 56,000 likes in two weeks.

Bruzz

On September 20th, 2024, TikToker^[7] @wahbandz posted a video of a man in a bathroom with text reading, "Mr. Do Anything For The Huzz." In the video's description, the TikToker wrote, "Big plot twist, he’s one of the bruzz and not Mr. Do Anything To Impress The Huzz." The video received over 547,600 plays and 40,800 likes in two months and earned top comments that echoed the word "bruzz."

On September 21st, TikToker^[8] @mardb4057 shared a similar video showing the same guy in a bathroom, writing in text overlay, "The bruzz ain't even noticing bro." Over two months, the video gained roughly 179,100 plays and 5,000 likes (shown below).

Viral usage of Bruzz continued to surface on TikTok^[9] in the following months. However, the term was originally added to Urban Dictionary^[10] on July 11th, 2008, predating the word "huzz."

Gruzz / Uzz Word Brainrot

On November 13th, 2024, TikToker^[11] @aaqilj shared a video that showed age-gap couple Queen Cheryl and King Quran, captioned, "What is bruzz doing with gruzz?" The video amassed over 119,000 plays and 3,200 likes in two days (shown below). "Gruzz" was seemingly a portmanteau of "grandma" and "huzz."

Also on November 13th, TikToker^[12] @mrmack888 posted a video showing a stock photo of elderly people that used the word "gruzzy" and further clarified in a bottom caption, "Gruzzy is essentially an old person huzz." Over two days, the video gained over 259,100 plays and 51,300 likes (shown below). It's currently unknown which video, the abovementioned one or @mrmack888's, coined "gruzz" first.

After the creation of gruzz, a slew of Uzz words surfaced on TikTok in slang overload posts akin to so-called brianrot. For instance, on November 14th, 2024, TikToker^[13] @marquitos.g posted a video with a long-form POV caption reading, "POV: You're unempluzzed, the euzz said she wanna meet up, you have knuzz surgeryuzz tmrwuzz and you get to class and see a subuzz instead of a tuzz, and the fuzz observe your auruzz." The video received over 712,200 plays and 143,300 likes in a day (shown below). In its -Uzz slang, the TikToker referenced the That Feeling When Knee Surgery Is Tomorrow meme.
