"Uohhhhhhhhh!" is an onomatopoeia representing an exclamation of excitement. The word is typically associated with loli characters and the loudly crying emoji 😭, after a Japanese Twitter user used the phrase in response to a picture of an anime child. The catchphrase became commonly used as a joking reply to underaged characters or art before seeing more ironic usage in the early 2020s. The phrase is also associated with the word "cunny," which is slang for loli and hentai imagery.

Origin

The original tweet featuring the "Uohhhhhhhhh!" catchphrase and emoji was made by Japanese artist mammoth9878, under the Twitter handle @mammoth_2020, sometime in late 2020, though the exact date is unknown. In it, mammoth replies to another tweet, defining it as "erotic." As of November 2020, the account has since been banned.

The tweet became a copypasta used to parody supposed enthusiasm for underage girls, particularly on 4chan in late 2020. For example, on 4chan's /jp/ (Japan) board,^[1] an anon posted the copypasta on October 21st, 2020, as a quote from Lewis Carroll (shown below, left). Another user made a joke about Anne Frank in response to an elementary school worksheet on the Holocaust (shown below, right).

Over the following years, those familiar with the Uohhhhhhhhh! meme began using the loud crying emoji in various exploitables to mock its connection to loli enthusiasts by photoshopping it onto a range of various objects or in images of people. These also appeared mostly on 4chan. On November 11th, 2021, a 4chan^[2] user on the /v/ board photoshopped an image that added the loud crying emoji to a crowd of people from a manga scene (shown below, left). On December 7th, 2021, another anon on /v/^[3] edited an image of the Giant Thumb Guy meme with the emojis (shown below, right).
